What we can offer you

We offer a range of services which are available to the public. In order for us to be able to carry on providing these services, we charge for some of them.

Pop into our store anytime on Monday for a free cup of tea and a chat.

If you just need some quick advice, we'll probably help you out on the door, but if you will need to sit down and discuss your situation, please book in advance; even if it's just for 15 minutes, it helps us ensure we get to everyone fairly.

The services listed below we offer outside of our membership, for nothing at all:

Bring your device into our store and use our wifi for free!

We have a number of laptops available for you to use. We also have touch screen desktops which are great for graphics design.

We provide support and advice on a wide range of computer related issues. You can also bring in devices that you're having trouble operating or that may be broken.

Bring in your CV and we can help make changes to increase your employability. Alternatively, we can help you from the ground up if you haven't already got one.

We also provide support during every stage of the employment process.

We provide pre-interview support for any type of interview you have coming up.

?

We can help you understand emails you have received, as well as help you construct the perfect email in response.

?

If you're considering starting up a business, we can provide recommendations and advice on good practices to follow, as well as advice directly related to your start up.

Space for hire

On the weekends, we allow people to book our room for use. It can fit between 10-15 people comfortably. There are toilet facilities, as well as a sink in the main room with beverage making utensils. There is a projector which you can connect to as well (VGA connection).

Please be respectful, tidy up once you're finished, and leave the room how you found it on arrival. 

These facilities can be used however you wish, study groups can take advantage of having a space with a projector and everything they need local.

 

Our store is on a highstreet, so there are plenty of shops around. You could also use the room to catch up with a few friends. However you decide to use it, it's here for you to book!

We provide support for those who are interested in bettering their education by taking up courses. We can provide assistance during the application phase and also help you get in contact with people who can provide the help you require.

The Skills Network and the Thurrock Adult Community College both offer a wide range of both paid and free courses.

We host ESOL classes every Wednesday from 12:00 - 14:00.

TOPPs (Tilbury Opportunities) is a free support structure that focuses on getting you ready for employment as fast as possible, no matter where you currently are or which barriers are currently blocking your way.

This is done by providing things such as training, helping develop English language skills, getting your CV ready, helping improve your confidence and finding real opportunities that employers value.

If you're a victim to hate crime, One Community can help you in the right direction. We're here to listen to your situation and help get you in contact with the right people who will take your case seriously.

 

If you feel a crime hasn't been committed against you, but you feel mistreated, we can still provide the support you feel you may need.

SHCPP

The Strategic Hate Crime Prevention Partnership (SHCPP) brings various organisations across Essex together to tackle hate crime. Essex County Council’s Head of Equalities and Partnerships facilitates a quarterly meeting with partners, which includes:

  • Essex Police

  • Office for the Police Fire and Crime Commissioner

  • Essex County Council

  • Essex County Fire and Rescue Service

  • Victim Support

  • Stop Hate UK

  • Essex Community of Voluntary Services

  • Essex Safeguarding Adults Board

  • Essex Safeguarding Children Board

  • Crown Prosecution Service

  • Colchester Borough Homes (representing Essex Housing Officer Group)

  • Thurrock Community Safety Partnership (representing Essex Community Safety Network)

  • Essex Restorative Justice and Mediation Service

Who can help?

StopHateUK work with organisations to bring awareness to the prevalence of hate crime. They also allow you to report a crime 24/7/365. Click on the image to read more about them.
